Jerzy Szmit

Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction, Poland

Jerzy Szmit is responsible for motorways, roads, road transport and air transport. He graduated from the Faculty of Geodesy from the Academy of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn and at the Faculty of Management from the University of Warsaw. Mr. Szmit was a member of Sejm from 2011 to 2015 (Member of the Finance Committee, the Infrastructure Committee, Chairman of the Subcommittee for the Roads and Road Transport; Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Development of the Eastern Regions of Poland). He was also a Member of the Senate from 2005 to 2007 (Chairman of the Local Government and Public Administration Committee), Marshal of the  Voivodeship of Warmia and Mazury from 1998 to 1999, Deputy President of Olsztyn from 2009 to 2010,  Director General of the Voivodeship Office in Olsztyn 1998 (responsible for the introduction of public administration reform), twice Councillor of the City Council in Olsztyn (from 1994 to 1998 and from 2010 to 2011). Mr. Szmit also served as Councillor of the Voivodeship Assembly of Warmia and Mazury from 1998 to 2002.
