Måns Lönnroth

Former State Secretary for Environment, Sweden

Måns Lönnroth has a background in both politics and science. His latest interest concerns urban transport. As a board member of the VREF, Volvo Research and Educational Foundations, he initiated a research program at Harvard University on political leadership in the transformation of urban transport and another program on financing urban access at the Brookings institution. Mr. Lönnroth has been state secretary at the Swedish Ministry of Environment between the years 1994 and 1999 and a political advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office between 1985 and 1991. Between the years 2000 and 2006 he was the managing director of Mistra, a Swedish endowed foundation for strategic environment research. He has been an elected member of the Stockholm County Council and is presently elected member of the standing committee on environment and health at the city of Stockholm. He graduated in 1967 from the Royal Institute of Technology.
