The ITF’s Decarbonising Transport project is a global, data-driven, multi-stakeholder initiative to support the transition to carbon-free transport. Launched by ITF at the 2016 Summit, it aims to build capacity to help close the gaps between climate commitments and the CO2 reductions that mitigation actions will deliver.
This session will acknowledge the achievements to date and the involvement of each of the stakeholder groups. It will also showcase the impact assessment of countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement on emissions from transport using the ITF Decarbonising Transport modeling framework.
The session will look at the projected evolution of transport emissions under a business-as-usual scenario and when mitigation measures related to transport are implemented. It will include all modes, and both passenger and freight data.
An innovative data visualisation tool developed by the ITF will show CO2 emissions related to urban mobility patterns and how they are impacted by measures such as shared mobility schemes, parking regulations and land use planning. The tool allows for a quick display of the impacts, thus facilitating adjustment of plans by policy makers.
The session will answer the following questions:
